Is it true that The Lord Will Bless You Regardless of Your Sins?

Even in the time of the law, as the Israelites were about to cross the Jordan to conquer the nations the Lord has given into their hands, the Lord said something graciously amazing and humbling.

In Deuteronomy 9:4-6, he said:  “Then, when the Lord has done this for you, don’t say to yourselves, ‘The Lord has helped us because we are so good!’ No, it is because of the wickedness of the other nations that he is doing it”.

It is amazing that some people may enter into favour when God decides to justly punish some unrepentant wicked people.

God said further: “…It is not at all because you are such fine, upright people that the Lord will drive them out from before you! I say it again, it is only because of the wickedness of the other nations…”

Anointed Worship of Jesus: must-listen

In case the Israelites got it twisted and think they conquered their enemies because they were holy, righteous, and obedient, God re-emphasised that the blessings they are receiving are not because they are fine and upright.

Additionally, the Lord said: “… and because of his promises to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that he will do it. I say it yet again: Jehovah your God is not giving you this good land because you are good, for you are not—you are a wicked, stubborn people”.

. Wow, Jehovah in His infinite mercy and grace, may soometimes choose to bless us even when we are wicked and stubborn. He may choose to honour his promise and covenant to our ancestors. What a good God. What a great God. Premised upon this, we must be careful to brag or boast about the blessing we enjoy as it may only due to God’s faithfulness to our fore-fathers.

I decree over you: you reap plentiful harvest from the good deeds of your parents and ancestors. The Lord will overlook your wickedness, stubbornness, and sins and bless you abundantly.

The Lord will remember that the cup of His enemies are full and in His loving-kindness, grace and mercy, will transfer the wealth of the rebellious unholy people to you.

But remember: “When you have eaten your fill, bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty[a] you don’t forget the Lord your God and begin to disobey him. For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large, and your silver and gold have multiplied, that is the time to watch out that you don’t become proud and forget the Lord your God”. DEUTERONOMY 8:10-14.

But he gave them a clause: “But if you forget about the Lord your God and worship other gods instead, and follow evil ways, you shall certainly perish, 20 just as the Lord has caused other nations in the past to perish. That will be your fate, too, if you don’t obey the Lord your God”. Deuteronomy 19-20.
