Pastor Shot Dead by unknown Gunmen on his farm in Nigeria

Media reports from Nigeria confirmed that a pastor identified as pastor Kayode Ogunleye has been killed by unknown gunmen in Ekiti State.

The lifeless body of the servant of God who was also a staff of the Ekiti West Local Government Area in Ekiti, was found on his farm along the Aramoko-Ijero-Ekiti highway in Ekiti.

Ogunleye, who worked for All Christian Fellowship Church, was said to have been shot dead while harvesting banana at his plantation.

The spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, saying that investigations into the case has started.

Persecution and killing of Christians is rife in Nigeria. Major suspects in the killings are the Book Haram terrorist group who operated majorly in the muslim dominated Northern Nigeria and Fulani herdsmen from the same area.

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, however, said killings by these groups are not targeted at Christians only but many Christians in Nigeria differ, presenting the President with overwhelming statistics that the killings are targeted at Christians on many occasions.
